REGINA - Average retail gasoline prices in Regina have fallen 0.4 c/L in the past week, averaging 134.25 c/L Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 82 gas outlets in Regina. This compares with the national average that has increased 1.4 c/L in the last week to 134.38 c/L, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
"As April wraps up, gas prices in Canada are showing a bit of mixed behavior: while most provinces saw prices edge higher, the Prairies — specifically Manitoba and Saskatchewan — bucked the trend with slight declines," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
"Oil prices, which had previously fallen into the $50 per barrel range during the height of Trump’s trade war, have since rallied slightly and are now holding in the low $60s, putting renewed upward pressure on gas prices. In addition, seasonal increases in demand are contributing to higher prices across much of the country,” said De Haan.
“Looking ahead, with Canada’s Federal election today, Canadians should keep in mind that if the federal carbon tax pause is lifted or reintroduced, it would likely eventually add upward pressure to pump prices once again. For now, Canadians should expect continued volatility at the pump as we move deeper into the spring driving season."
Including the change in gas prices in Regina during the past week, prices yesterday were 20.9 c/L lower than the same day one year ago and are 20.3 c/L lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 19.5 c/L during the last month and stands 36.1 c/L lower than this day one year ago.
According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on April 28 in Regina have ranged widely over the last five years:
155.13 c/L in 2024, 159.48 c/L in 2023, 163.10 c/L in 2022, 126.73 c/L in 2021 and 75.04 c/L in 2020.
