Cash, cocaine, fentanyl seized in drug bust in Balgonie

BALGONIE - Saskatchewan RCMP arrested three individuals in Balgonie, Sask., as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.

On Jan. 10, officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) located two suspects in a drug trafficking investigation – a man and a woman – at a business at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 46. The suspects were arrested along with a third individual. 

During searches of the suspects and the suspect vehicle, officers from Yorkton STRT and White Butte Detachment located and seized 58 grams of cocaine, a small amount of fentanyl, a sum of cash and other evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of investigation, a 49-year-old man,from Esterhazy, Sask., is charged with: one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.

Additionally, a 49-year-old woman, from Esterhazy, is charged with: one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine; and one count, possession (fentanyl).

The third individual was released without charges.

They made their first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 13.
