UPDATE:

JULY 10 — The Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) continues to wrangle with the aftermath of an earlier June 27 cyberattack that seriously affected its business operations, and with the matter still ongoing the company has released an official update on July 9.

According to an official statement released on July 4, the FCL continues to make “significant progress” in restoring some of its operations.

The FCL is now prioritizing “key grocery items and consumer goods” for delivery to local Co-op retailers, but no further details have been provided.

With many Co-op cardlock fuel locations across the province still impacted by the attack, the FCL statement further indicated that additional pumps are coming online daily.

“A main priority is to get all cardlock locations back online as soon as possible,” the statement reads. “We want to reinforce that fuel supply to Co-op retail gas bars has been relatively unaffected and customers can fill up at all Co-op retail locations.”

The full FCL statement from July 9 reads:

“We are aware of statements made online that data was allegedly copied from the FCL IT (Information Technology) environment and will allegedly be released. While it's possible these allegations are related to the cybersecurity incident we previously experienced, we are still investigating with assistance from third-party experts. If the investigation determines that data was in fact compromised, as previously stated, we will take appropriate action.

“It's important to note that while this incident has been contained, upon first discovering that we had experienced a cybersecurity incident, we temporarily took a number of our systems offline as a precaution. As we continue forward with resuming normal operations, we're working towards bringing all systems back online safely. We once again want to thank Co-op members, customers and the public for their patience and understanding.”

No further updates are available at this time.

MOOSE JAW — Customers at the Moose Jaw Co-op — and several other Co-op locations across the province — have been experiencing a shortage of goods ranging from produce to fuel this week as the Federated Co-operatives Limited continues to grapple with an ongoing cybersecurity attack.

Details on the attack remain sparse, although it has been confirmed that the incident involves Federated Co-op locations across Saskatchewan.

In response to numerous inquiries about the status of confidential personal information, the Federated Co-operatives Limited has issued the following statement:

“We have no evidence at this time that consumer data was compromised. If the investigation determines that consumer data was compromised, we will take appropriate action.”

Customers can now purchase a limited quantity of fuel at the Co-op cardlock on the North Service Road in Moose Jaw, however many Co-op cardlocks across the province remain out of service until further notice.

The Moose Jaw Express will continue to investigate the incident and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
