SHAUNAVON — The Holiday Jingle Mingle lived up to its name as Me Time Shaunavon partners hosted the 2nd annual event at the CPWC Greenslade Lounge on Dec. 10.

More than 60 participants attended this free event and filled the room with conversation and laughter as they shared in appetizers, goodies and refreshments. Organizers had lined up a word scramble, and door prizes and centrepieces were drawn for. Alexis Hunt, Director of Wellness & Leisure led tables through a Christmas Trivia contest which drew out a competitive spirit and plenty of cheering. Mingling proved easy to do with active participation in crokinole, Jenga, bean bag toss and floor curling for anyone who wanted to get up and move. An easy ornament craft was available for all skill levels to create a wrapped star ornament to take home with them as a souvenir from the evening.

Attendance was diverse with adults of all ages, including an increase in the number of men attending the event. Newly elected Council members Dickie, Schmit and Johnston also came out to partake in the festivities. Whether arriving as a group or as an individual, everyone was warmly welcomed. Joanne Gregoire with the Grand Coteau Heritage & Cultural Centre says, “Not everyone has a holiday party to go to. This is a nice way to bring the community together. It’s a very welcoming event. Some people came as a group but many individuals attended on their own and were easily welcomed and drawn into the celebrations. It’s a safe, fun, non-threatening atmosphere with no pressure to do any of the activities.”

Shaunavon Library staff were in charge of the drink station where mocktails, coffee and a hot chocolate bar were available. Head Librarian Anne Bennett expressed her overall take on the evening, saying, “It’s just such a nice feeling to come together as a community at this time of year!”
