ESTEVAN - The Estevan Motor Speedway entertained hundreds of fans during a regular program on Friday night.
The start of the races was delayed by about 45 minutes due to a thunderstorm that rolled through the Estevan area. While the city saw plenty of rain and even some hail during the prolonged storm, the track did not take the same brunt of the weather, even though it's just a few minutes southeast of Estevan.
Still, it took time for the track prep crews and the drivers to get the track ready for racing.
Justin Fichter won the sport mod feature after he passed Brian Kentner on the final lap. Austin Daae was the stock car feature winner, while Ed Turnbull took home the modified feature. Cash Saxon captured the slingshot feature, and Connor Hansen was the hobby stock feature winner.
The next program will be July 23, which is the speedway's annual kids' night.
The next edition of the Mercury will have full coverage of the weekend's races.
