The party is just beginning

Overjoyed, overwhelming, over the moon, thrilled, excited, nervous, anxious, vibrating, relieved. You could be excused if you thought someone used these words to describe their wedding day, or the birth of their first child.

Overjoyed, overwhelming, over the moon, thrilled, excited, nervous, anxious, vibrating, relieved.
You could be excused if you thought someone used these words to describe their wedding day, or the birth of their first child.

Then again, given the stress and hard work of the last four weeks, maybe it works after all.
The Kraft Celebration Tour is coming to Estevan, and if the football committee has its way, the entire region will share in the party on Aug. 25.

And a party it will be, with part of 4th St. blocked off to allow revellers to pour in.

All those hours of staring at a computer screen and typing those gibberish security words paid off, despite the sore fingers and necks that followed.

I won't tell you how many times I voted, but it was at least 10 times my salary for the week.
Our volunteers did a stellar job of spreading the word, not only in Estevan but by reaching out to other Saskatchewan cities, other Celebration Tour finalists and football organizations across Canada.

We don't know what the margin of victory was, but that out-of-town support was crucial, even just to provide encouragement for the residents who were voting non-stop.

You have to admire the committee which, after working non-stop over the last two months to bring this to the city, are determined to put the celebration in the tour as a way to bring together flood victims.

This began as a worthy plea for local football projects, the completion of which would allow the sport to continue its upward growth in Estevan.

What it turned into was a call to arms to help lift up the entire soggy region; a story of resilience, redemption and resurrection - a story that the entire country will now see.

Hosting SportsCentre will be the ultimate high point for a city that hasn't had many of them lately, and a reminder to flood victims across the southeast that when you strip down the artificial boundaries, we're all in the same canoe, even though most of us don't need one anymore.

I really like that the Winnipeg Jets are paying homage to the Royal Canadian Air Force and its history in their city with their new logos.

I like that they made an F-18 the focal point of their main crest, and the presence of the true north strong and free in the form of a maple leaf is a nice touch, even though it lends itself to corporate interests.

I like the colour scheme and the overall look, and I'm glad they stayed away from cartoon logos for a more simple, traditional approach.

What I don't like is that the F-18 logo will be their primary one, instead of using it as a shoulder patch.

The simplicity and design of the jet superimposed on a maple leaf just screams shoulder patch.

The main reasons are that the logo doesn't include Winnipeg or Jets anywhere, and the F-18 isn't depicted from a more striking angle or in more detail.

Granted, it will likely look better when there's a jersey to go with it, but I would have preferred the Winnipeg Jets logo with the fighter wings and hockey sticks as the crest on the front.

Either way, it's a major upgrade on the Thrashers' logo, and I look forward to seeing the Jets hit the ice regardless.

He's glad the NFL is back because he can now gun for back-to-back fantasy league titles - although the odds of underpaying for Michael Vick again are slim to none.
