The City advertises weekly about keeping our sidewalks free of snow and ice. I wish they would feel that way about the slippery conditions of our streets. They are very hard to walk on and by no means easy to drive on.
The city's NASCAR sanding truck, that must start at 8:30 a.m. but should be starting at 5:00 a.m. at least, dribbles a little sand in the intersection, which makes the citizens and visitors laugh.
The City can overspend the budget of leisure services by just about $3 million, but it seems overtime or lack of sand is not one of the concerns at this time. They have enough half tons and four by fours running around with two people. They could put these to work also but this is not the norm and I suppose not included in their job description.
The City's motto is EFFICIENCY, EFFECTIVENESS & EXCELLENCE. I think all of the above were missed very badly in this operation.
I did receive my water bill yesterday and noticed this increase for January 1. It is 10.25 per cent. I thought the council said 10 per cent. It would appear this also missed the three E's.
What is happening at city hall over the last little while? We have lost two head engineers plus two others; two public works foremen and last but not least our city clerk? It would appear some clarification is due to the citizens of Estevan.
