WEYBURN - Tomorrow I’ll be landing at YVR airport to begin a 10-day adventure with my best friend of almost 42 years.
Over the past several years we’ve been more intentional about spending time together. The older we get, the more important it becomes.
We spend months planning and plotting our schedule of shenanigans.
We’ll be celebrating both of our birthdays during this trip, as they fall just a few days apart at the end of May.
Last week’s activity with a certain airline threatened to upend our carefully planned itinerary.
Messages back and forth increased as we wondered how a strike would ruin our plans.
Should we make a plan B?
I awoke Friday morning to messages from friends and family proclaiming “no strike!” and links to articles verifying the news.
Whew! What a relief!
Cancelled flights and long wait times were among the troubles last week’s passengers experienced.
Even though an agreement was reached, many travellers had their plans interrupted.
Missed connections, sleeping in airports, refunds, rebookings and a whole lot of frustration ensued for a few days before the agreement was reached.
I’m sure it was equally as concerning for employees of said airline, as their schedules were also impacted.
It may take a while for things to return to normal. (By Thursday would be great.)
While I’m off adventuring with my bestie, Sabrina will be sharing her thoughts here in our shared space.
I’ll be back in a few weeks with a travel update and a story or two.
