Inclusive

In today’s modern language, we now hear the words “Inclusiveness, diversity and tolerance.” It is very interesting in hearing them, it seems we are getting less and less so.

In today’s modern language, we now hear the words “Inclusiveness, diversity and tolerance.”

It is very interesting in hearing them, it seems we are getting less and less so. Kind of like a pendulum that swings too far in the other direction, I fear just maybe we’ve become hypocritical.

For example, just recently a player on a professional Canadian sports team was released (punished) for expressing himself on social media.

I believe they said his words were divisive. For me, his words were not divisive at all. My question is how come this league which believes in inclusiveness, diversity and tolerance, can’t include his diversity and be tolerant of his views?

Are we on a one-way street? Is our freedom of expression and speech in jeopardy?

I remember as a child playing with toys and in learning to share, would find myself fighting over them with my siblings. My parents would break it up by saying “If you can’t play fair, the toy will be taken away.”

The last thing I would want to see is our freedom of expression being taken away. Whether my expression (opinion) is right or wrong, is less important than having the right to give it without fear of punishment. As long as our expression isn’t through arrogance, bullying or belittling and we are kind, that is the way God would have us do it.

God isn’t afraid to hear our opinions and expressions as we pray to Him.

Whether we have it right or wrong, He listens, smiles, then sends us off on our next adventure. He isn’t overly sensitive to all our feelings. He never kicks us off His team. He just cares and loves us unconditionally.

Let’s be more like Him!
