The Weyburn 4-H Beef Club had several members take part in the Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Calf Cruze show in Weyburn, the Lord of the Rings Stock Show in Estevan and the Kennedy 4-H Jackpot this past month.
The club also put on a demonstration day for the younger members to learn from the older more experienced members. Jacey Fellner led the showmanship demonstration putting other members through the proper ways to show their calf. She gave the other members helpful tips to follow to become top showmen. Daniel Fellner showed the members how to clip their animals to show off their best qualities that the judges may be looking for.
Rylan Knupp led the grooming demonstration instructing members on which products to use and how to use them properly. The members had the opportunity to learn knowledge from some of the best showmen our club had to offer. It will be exciting to see the results at the fair.
The club has been very busy preparing for the upcoming Achievement Day on July 2. The show starts at 8 a.m. It is an opportune time to see all the members of the club showing in grooming and showmanship.
The members will also be showing their heifers, steers and continuation projects on this day. Continuation projects are two and three-year-old cow-calf pairs that the members have taken to 4-H as heifers and are now back to prove their abilities. This will take place at the fair grounds. The members and their cattle remain in Weyburn for the start of the fair on Monday, July 4, for the Regional 4-H show and sale.
This will give the members the chance to demonstrate all they have learned and how their project animals have grown and developed. The clubs will have displays set up for viewing and be available to answer question people may have about the 4-H program or the beef industry. It is a great opportunity for friendship as well as competition for the members.
The members are very proud of what they have accomplished personally and with their animals, so hopefully area residents can come out to watch and cheer them on.
