Two area companies are up for recognition at the provincial level, as the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce released their list of finalists for the ABEX Awards.
The provincial chamber received a total of 86 nominations, and selected 55 finalists in 10 categories, with the awards to be presented on Saturday, Oct. 22 at TCU Place in Saskatoon.
In the Service Award category, Pharmasave of Weyburn is one of several finalists that include Harvard Western Insurance of Regina, IIBC of Saskatoon, Park Town Hotel of Saskatoon, Suburban Extended Stay Hotel of Kindersley, The Sandbox in the City of Saskatoon, and Viterra Inc. of Regina. Pharmasave was a recent winner at the WEYBEX Awards earlier this year, winning the Golden Service Award, and the top overall Business of the Year Award.
For the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Elysia and Natasha Vandenhurk of Three Farmers of Midale, with company offices in Saskatoon, is one of the finalists, with young entrepreneurs from six other companies also on the list.
鈥淲e at the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce are once again very impressed with the quality of nominations from so many businesses throughout the province,鈥 said Steve McLellan, CEO of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.
鈥淭he Saskatchewan Chamber uses a system for the evaluation of nominations which makes it possible for small and large businesses to go head-to-head in a category fairly,鈥 he added.
The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce introduced the ABEX Awards in 1984 to honour outstanding achievements in business excellence.
