Sales brisk at Mankota livestock auction

The Mankota Stockmen鈥檚 Weigh Co. held an all class cow and yearling sale on March 17 with 1,446 head sold including over 1,100 yearlings. Cows weighing 1,333 lbs. on average sold for an average $98.09 per cwt from a low of $5 to a high of $110.

The Mankota Stockmen鈥檚 Weigh Co. held an all class cow and yearling sale on March 17 with 1,446 head sold including over 1,100 yearlings.
Cows weighing 1,333 lbs. on average sold for an average $98.09 per cwt from a low of $5 to a high of $110.聽 This was an increase in just over $7 per cwt from the previous sale. Bulls weighing up to 1,000 lbs. averaged $193.01 per cwt ranging from $144 to $233 per cwt.聽 Bulls in the 1,001-2,000 lb. weight category sold on average for $96.42 per cwt from a low of $80 to a high of $115 per cwt. This was a slight increase from the previous sale in February and a $10.15 jump from the December 2016 sale. Bulls weighing over 2,000 lbs. sold on average at $121.91 per cwt, ranging from $116 to $126 per cwt.聽 This price was up $17.91 per cwt from the February sale.
The next sale is the 19th Annual 49th Parallel Black Angus Bull-Open Replacement Heifer sale on Monday, March 27 at 1 p.m. followed by the third annual Grasslands Black Angus bull sale on Friday, March 31 starting at 1:30 p.m. The special yearling sale takes place on Friday, April 7, and the annual Top Cut Charolais and Red Angus bull sale goes on Tuesday, April 11 at 2 p.m. The SAT Short Grass sale takes place on Saturday, April 15, and the month ends with an all class yearling sale on Friday, April 28. Rounding out the pre-summer sales will be the all class sale on Friday, June 9 and the all class 鈥淥ff Truck鈥 sale on Friday, July 21.
