Much of Estevan Woodlawn Golf Course is underwater for the second time this spring, but it's much worse this time around.
Outflows from Boundary Dam into the Souris River were decreased slightly late last week, but water from the Souris is still pouring onto the course and making it impossible to make any headway.
"Water is still coming over the road from the river," said Woodlawn general manager Brian Dueck, who also noted that pumping won't be able to begin until outflows from Boundary and Rafferty are back to normal.
"We got water all over the golf course. I've got no more information from the (Saskatchewan Watershed Authority) on when they're going to release less water," Dueck said Monday afternoon.
Water levels near Highway 47 receded over the weekend, but areas closer to the clubhouse are still being inundated by the river, and that new water is beginning to fill the dry spots again.
"The clubhouse is fine, (water) didn't get to the sandbags, but there's no receding of the water on the golf course, really," Dueck said.
The annual Marv Symons Memorial, which would have taken place next Monday, has been all but ruled out.
There is also serious concern for the ECS Classic (May 25) and the Bruins alumni par three tournament (May 28), but Dueck declined comment on the possibility of cancelling those events.
"I'm still talking to those people," he said.
The annual Oilmen's tournament is slated for June 3-5.
Dueck said officials are dealing with the situation on a day-to-day basis.
"I need to find out when the Watershed's going to shut the water off and then I'll know more."
