WEYBURN – The WCS Eagles Senior Girls volleyball team played in Balgonie over the weekend at the Greenall Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
The Eagles finished the pool play with two wins over Yorkton and Kipling and a loss to Balgonie, moving them into second place to play. The Eagles advanced into playoffs to play the third place team from the other pool in the quarter final.
The Eagles won over Fort Qu’Appelle 25-18 and 25 –20.
The Eagles then came up against a strong team from Campbell Collegiate from Regina. The Eagles lost 25-27 and 16-25 in the semifinal to move to the third place final.
Facing Yorkton, the Eagles came away with the win by scores of 26-24 and 25-18 to bring home the bronze medal.
The WCS Senior Boys Volleyball team travelled to Saskatoon over the weekend for the Centennial Collegiate tournament.
On Friday, they played Holy Cross in their first game and lost in two straight, 19-25 and 25-27. In their second game they played Evan Hardy and beat them 25-15 and 25-14.
On Saturday morning they started their day playing against Centennial and beat them in three games, 25-22, 23-25, and 15-12.
In their last round robin game on Saturday, they played St. Joseph and lost 20-25 and 21-25.
In the semi-final on the consolation side, they beat Bellevue in three games, winning 25-16, losing 23-25, and winning 15-8, advancing them to the consolation gold medal against Centennial, who they beat in two straight to capture gold.
Their next action will be on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3 and 4, when they head to Yorkton.
The WCS Junior A Girls played in a tournament in Carnduff over the weekend, and finished the first round robin in second place with a record of four wins and two losses, which sent them to the Championship Pool.
After the Championship Pool round robin, the girls ended up facing Arcola in an exciting final where the girls ended up winning both sets 25-21 and 25-19 to win gold.
