The annual Football Saskatchewan Senior Bowl game was played in Regina at Mosaic Stadium on May 26 with four WCS players and three coaches on the team for the Â鶹´«Ã½AV.

WEYBURN – The annual Football Saskatchewan Senior Bowl game was played in Regina at Mosaic Stadium on May 26. The Senior Bowl is the High School football all-star game between the top graduating players from the south of the province vs the top graduating players from the north of the province.

It takes the top recruits through a tough tryout weekend in April, then selecting the top 40 players from all programs to return for a three-day camp and play the game vs the North. Each year it alternates between Regina and Saskatoon hosting, with Junior football and U-Sport programs sponsoring the event to showcase their graduating recruits.

The Weyburn Eagles football program was represented well in the game this year with four players and three coaches on the team for the Â鶹´«Ã½AV. Coaches Jody Kerr, Kyle Paterson and guest coach Rob Umbach joined the staff for the 2024 game, with Regina Thunder head coach Scott MacAulay as the Â鶹´«Ã½AV head coach.

On the players side, Chace Kradovill (d-line), Isaiah Sanderson (receiver), Owen Istace (running back) and Conner Kerr (quarterback) all earned spots on this year’s team for the honour to represent their school and football programs in the game.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV came out flying scoring two touchdowns in the first three minutes, with Conner Kerr connecting with a pair of Regina Riffel receivers to take an early 14-0 lead. The North cut that in half in the second quarter, but an immediate response and follow up by Brady Vindevogel (Regina Miller) with a TD pass to extend the lead.

Kerr re-entered the game and ran one in himself before a late drive for a field goal, which had them in control entering the locker room at half with a 31-9 lead.

The third quarter saw the two teams exchange field goals until the south engineered a 72-yard drive and punched it in on the ground to take a 41-12 lead into the fourth quarter. The south shut out the North in the fourth quarter and added another Kerr pass to Tanner Donovel (Regina Miller), a defensive score from Jacob Goldstone (Regina Leboldus), and a late field goal to cap off the 58-12 victory for the south.

As a team, the Â鶹´«Ã½AV had 303 yards passing and 190 yards rushing.

The stats for Weyburn players: Chace Kradovill was in on two tackles for the defense in the game; Owen Istace had eight carries for 43 yards; Isaiah Sanderson was targeted twice and had one reception for 33 yards; Conner Kerr went 11-16 passing with 193 yards and three TDs, and he also had two rushes for 19 yards.

Conner Kerr was named the south MVP for the game, as voted on by Football Sask and guest representatives from Junior and U-Sport programs.
