Fri., Dec. 3/10 - Oxbow - 5 (EN) at Wawota - 2 - Big Six Hockey League
The Huskies spoiled the Flyers' home opener, scoring early to take a 1 - 0 lead into the second period.
The second saw the Flyers knot the score when Chad Hebert chipped Kevin Lincoln's centering pass to beat Aren Miller in the Huiskies' net. Oxbow took the lead five minutes later, scoring on a break-away, but Mike Bratton converted a nifty short-handed two-on-one break, as he came in late and ripped one home to tie the game at 2 - 2 with eight minutes left. Oxbow scored on the power-play and added an insurance marker with four minutes left in the period to take a 4 - 2 lead to the room after two.
The third saw the Flyers chip away, but were unable to solve Miller in the Huskies' cage. The Flyers pulled Josh Seibel in the final minute and a half, and despite being on the power-play couldn't tie it up, with the Huskies adding an empty-netter in the waning seconds.
In the end, lack of finish, some defensive lapses and too many trips to the penalty box cost the Flyers' in this one - all correctible!
Sat., Dec. 4/10 - Wawota - 1 at Carnduff - 5 - Big Six Hockey League
A short bench wasn't the recipe to solve the home-town Red Devils as Carnduff scored the lone goal in the first period to lead 1 - 0 after one period. The Flyers tied it on a good effort by Rob West as he went down the right wing and, with a man draped over him, back-handed one past Cavan Hoffman in the Devils' cage. The Devils replied 2 minutes later to take a 2 - 1 into the third period.
The Flyers', despite playing short-handed played quite well until fatigue became a factor in the third, with Carnduff scoring three times in the final 6 minutes to dispell any Flyers' hopes of a comeback.
