UPDATE:
SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - The McLeod Series basketball games between the Estevan and Weyburn Comprehensive Schools will happen next week.
The first two games in the basketball showdown between the two schools were supposed to be played Wednesday night in Estevan, but they had to be postponed due to weather conditions in the southeast.
"With the current weather forecast and poor road conditions, a decision has been made to postpone the McLeod Series games that were scheduled for tonight," ECS said in a post on its Facebook page. "We will work with team coaches and WCS determine a new date."
The games in Estevan will now be played on Feb. 13 at the ECS gymnasium, with the two schools' senior boys' teams playing at 5:30 p.m. and the senior girls' games to follow. The Weyburn half of the series will be two nights later, with the senior girls' game at 5:30 p.m. and the senior boys to follow.
The McLeod Series is a best-of-four showdown. It typically attracts large crowds from both cities.
Points for-against differential is the tie-breaker in case each school wins twice.
Last year's McLeod Series was cancelled due to concerns over spectator conduct in previous editions of the event.
Weyburn has won the past four editions of the event.
