The Yorkton Terriers waltzed into the Civic Auditorium last night and managed to do what no SJHL team has done since October 23 - defeat the Eagle Drilling Estevan Bruins on home ice.

Yorkton beat Bruins' netminder Joel Danyluk twice in the first period, and were able to hang on for a close 2-1 victory.

While on the power play Zak Majkowski took advantage of an Estevan turnover and fired a wrist shot past Danyluk at the 15:40 mark of the first to open the scoring. Just over two minutes later, Keon Vick was able to make it 2-0 from a terrible angle at the side of the net on a shot that Danyluk would undoubtedly want back.

Justin Waskewitch finally got the Bruins within one in the third period, but that was as close as they would come as some bounces in Yorkton's favour and strong play from goalie Devin Peters kept Estevan off the board for the remainder of the game.

With the victory, the Terriers increase their Sherwood Conference lead over the Bruins to seven points, however Estevan still has four games in hand.

The Bruins (14-8-2-1) will now head to Weyburn this Saturday to face the Red Wings. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
