The Estevan Steelers suffered a 54-1 defeat at the hands of the Weyburn Raiders on Saturday in their final regular season game of the year in Weyburn.
"We got beat by a bigger team on Saturday. Weyburn's team was big, they knew what they needed to get done and they did it, and unfortunately we fell short," said Steelers head coach Preston Majeran.
Estevan (0-8) trailed 38-0 at the half.
The bantam squad will play a bowl game tonight in Regina against the Junior Griffins, a team that edged the Steelers 14-12 on Labour Day.
"If everybody comes out to play, we've got a really good shot at winning or at least tying it," said Majeran.
The coach said he was happy with some of his players Saturday but needed more of a team effort.
"You can't have one or two people have an outstanding game and have the rest of the team not," he said.
Despite going winless this year, Majeran said he saw progress from a young Steelers squad.
"We've definitely had our ups and downs, but there has been improvement throughout the year.
"There are a lot of first-year Steelers and next year they'll know what it's like to be in the bantam category."
