WEYBURN – The Weyburn Senior Men’s Golf Club held their annual windup and awards luncheon on Thursday with an 18-hole skins game, with 21 golfers taking part.
During the year, the members ran a 50/50 draw, chaired by Murray Benson, with proceeds going to the Weyburn Golf Club’s Irrigation Project. This year the Senior Men raised $1,600. Club members Frank Kaip, Murray Benson and Mickey Woodard presented a cheque for $1,600 to Golf Club manager Chad Brock at the windup.
The club has been holding games on Tuesdays and Thursdays over the last 18 weeks.
The Tuesday games are made up with players 69 years and under, and 70 years and over. The best 10 scores were used in the Stratford rules to determine the winners, with 34 games recorded in total.
Lyman Sargent won the masters division (70 plus years) with a total of 518 points and was presented with a plaque and a $50 gift certificate.
The 69-and-under division was won by Murray Benson with a score of 541 points. Murray received a plaque and a $50 gift certificate, as well as the overall senior men’s championship, winning the Ken Hill trophy.
