The Canadian Cowboys Association unveiled its summer rodeo schedule for its 2017 two qualifying tours sponsored by Peavey Mart. The CAA also revealed its official rankings for the 2017 Peavey Mart Tour that features several rodeo athletes from the Â鶹´«Ã½AVline district.
In tie down roping, Shawn Williamson from Mankota is ranked third overall and Maclin Anderson of Rockglen is ranked seventh. Ty Livingstone of Rockglen is ranked fifth in steer wrestling. In ladies barrel racing, Karli Cowie of Mankota is ranked first and Krystal Grad of Gravelbourg is ranked fifth.
The winners of each of Peavey Mart’s West and East Tour in each of the seven major rodeo events will earn the 11th and 12th qualifying spots to the CCA Rodeo Finals, which will be held in Swift Current on Wednesday to Saturday, October 18-21.
Contestants in timed events have to compete in at least 15 CCA lead rodeos while roughstock competitors have to compete in at least 10 to qualify for the finals. Last year the finals paid out over $150,000 in prize earnings along with trophy saddles and buckles making it the highest paying semi-professional rodeo finals in Canada.
The Peavey Mart Western Tour includes three rodeo events in the Â鶹´«Ã½AVline district including Mankota, Wood Mountain and Val Marie as part of the West Tour.
The West Tour started in North Battleford (April 28-30) and goes to Unity (Saturday and Sunday, June 3-4), Mankota (Friday and Saturday, May 26-27), Eston (Friday and Saturday, June 23-24), Warman and Lancer ((Friday to Sunday, June 9-11), Coutts, Alta. (Friday to Sunday, June 16-18), Arrowhead, Alta. (Friday to Sunday, June 23-25), Wood Mountain (Friday and Saturday, July 7-9), Shaunavon and Central Butte (Friday and Saturday, July 21-22), Kyle (Saturday and Sunday, August 12-13), Consul (Saturday and Sunday, August 5-6), Val Marie (Friday and Saturday, September 15-16) and ending the circuit in Beechy (Friday and Saturday, September 22-24).
The Peavey Mart Eastern Tour started in Tisdale (April 7-8), Pierson, MB (April 14-15) and Saskatoon (May 13-14). It goes to Pilot Butte (Friday to Sunday, June 16-18), Radville (Friday and Saturday, June 17-18), Moosomin (Friday and Saturday, July 7-8), Kelliher (Saturday and Sunday, July 8-9), Yorkton (Wednesday to Saturday, July 5-8), Weyburn (Saturday and Sunday, July 22-23), Austin, Man. (Thursday to Sunday, July 27-30), Swan River, Man. (Friday to Sunday, July 28-30), Whitewood (Friday and Saturday, August 11-12), Estevan (Friday and Saturday, September 1-2), Kamsack (Friday and Saturday, September 29-30), and Wapella (Friday and Saturday, October 6-7).
