Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Kodiaks rock the rinks south of the border

The Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Kodiaks team consists of players from many communities in the Souteast corner. The team was formed by coaches Chad Levesque, Darryl Davis and Curtis Douglas.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Kodiaks team consists of players from many communities in the Souteast corner. The team was formed by coaches Chad Levesque, Darryl Davis and Curtis Douglas. The team started practicing together in preparation for the upcoming season and for two tournaments in North Dakota.

The Kodiaks travelled to Bismarck for a three day tournament, to play for the Glacier Cup. In their first match up on Friday March 4th the Kodiaks dropped the puck with Bismarck Image Printing. The Kodiaks played well and proved how well they could play as a team. They had their first win of the weekend and that would set the tone for the games in the days to come. On Saturday March 5th the Kodiaks met West Fargo Black at center ice. The Kodiaks were skating and passing like pros. The Kodiaks had control of the scoreboard at the end of the third period. Sunday March 6th the Kodiaks played West Fargo Gold and won which meant they were off to the Championship game later that day. The Grand Forks Supras came out to challenge the Kodiaks in the race for the Glacier Cup.The Kodiaks fought hard but the Supras maintained their lead. The Kodiaks would have to settle for second place. The team had a great weekend filled with many exciting games and tons of fun.

Next the Kodiaks packed up their hockey bags and Gatorade and headed Â鶹´«Ã½AV of the border to Grand Forks. The team had another successful weekend. In their Friday game they played the Dickinson Outlaws. Our team was quick in front of the net and won with a score of 14-2. On Saturday the Kodiaks played the Fargo Redwings. At the end of the third the Kodiaks celebrated their second win. The Kodiaks played the Grand Forks Blues to decide who would go onto the champioship game on Sunday. The Blues proved to be worthy opponents as they won moving the Kodiaks into a battle for third place. Sunday the Kodiaks came out of their caves ready to hit the ice in an early morning game. The met the Eau Claire Mustangs for their final game of the weekend. This was a fast paced game that kept the fans on edge until the sound of the final buzzer. The Kodiaks won with a score of 5-3. They lined up at center ice to receive their medals and best of all a trophy to bring home across the border.
