Female hockey teams in the southeast had another busy weekend.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Aaron Well Servicing U18 AA Goldwings female hockey team picked up another win on the weekend, blanking the Western Prairie Aces 5-0 Saturday in Midale.   

Katelyn Thackeray scored twice for the Goldwings, while Presleigh Runge, McKenna Walls and Beau Chisholm also scored.  

Lauren Hassler added three assists.  

Phoenix Preston-Winder and Kara Zelyck shared the goaltending duties.  

The Goldwings opened the new year with a scoreless tie against the North East Aces on Jan. 2 in Nipawin. Zelyck was in goal for the game. 

The Goldwings were slated to host the Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday. (Results were not available at press time). Then they will visit the Regina Rebels on Jan. 14, and host the Rebels on Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. in Midale.

The Carlyle U18 A Cardinals lost 5-1 to the Balcarres Barracudas Sunday in White Bear.  

Cassie Gagnon had the Cardinals’ lone goal. 

Rylie Scott was the goaltender.

The Cardinals (2-9) will visit the Saskatoon Destroyers on Jan. 15 and the Saskatoon Comet Predators the following day.

The Estevan Â鶹´«Ã½AVland Pulse U15 A Bearcats opened 2022 with a 4-3 win over the Regina Rebels Gold on Sunday.  

Emma Holzer’s second of the game with 2:11 to play in the third period proved to be the winning goal. Sailor Cowan also had two goals for Estevan.  

Casey Brady was in goal for the Bearcats.   

Estevan (3-9-4) will visit the Parkland Fire in Melville on Jan. 22.

The Estevan Power Dodge U13 A Bearcats 1 and 2 faced each other twice during the Christmas break. 

The Bearcats 2 won 4-2 on Dec. 31 at Affinity Place. Halle Lozinsky and Ruby Graf scored to give the Bearcats 1 a 2-0 advantage, but then Kendall Grimes tallied twice and Chelsea Madsen and Taya Northrop also had goals for a comeback victory.

The Bearcats 2 then won 5-0 on Jan. 2, also at Affinity Place. Grimes and Madsen each scored twice, while Northrop also scored.  

Adalyn Christopherson was in goal for the Bearcats 2, while Taylor Short was the goalie for Bearcats 1.  

The Bearcats 1 then lost 2-0 to the Balcarres Barracudas on Jan. 8 in Lampman, and 10-0 to the Wood River Ice Cats on Jan. 9 in Lafleche. Short was in goal for the two games.

The Bearcats 1 (3-10-1) are slated to play the Ice Cats again on Jan. 14 at 8:15 p.m. at the Power Dodge Arena. 

The Bearcats 2 (6-7-1), meanwhile, were supposed to play the Weyburn Gold Wings on Jan. 8, but it had to be rescheduled. 

They are slated to host Wood River on Jan. 15 at 3:45 p.m. in Bienfait.

The Estevan Senchuk U11 A Bearcats 2  lost 5-0 to the Weyburn Gold on Jan. 2.  

The Bearcats 2 (3-5-5) next league game is against the Madville Huskies on Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Power Dodge Arena.  

The Estevan Senchuk U11 A Bearcats 1 (6-2-3) had three games scheduled for the weekend, but they had to be rescheduled. 

Their next scheduled game is Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Power Dodge Arena against the Huskies, and then they will visit the Huskies on Jan. 23 in Radville.
