Rock Talk: a busy month lies ahead for Assiniboia Curling Club

ASSINIBOIA - It is down to the homestretch for 2023, and the Assiniboia Curling Club. will be busy in December.

Curling leagues are now in full swing and the school programs have kicked in. Both ACHS and AES are coming weekly for instruction and preparation for their playoffs in the new year. Some of the ACHS Phys Ed classes have booked in for some introductory activity. 

The club will host the Provincial Scotties “Last Chance Spiel” from Dec. 14 to 17. Curlsask will announce the draw this week. The final four rinks will qualify for this year’s Scotties, to be hosted in Tisdale in January. Residents can to come on down to watch some excellent curling, enjoy a meal and a beverage, and show your support. Admission for this event is free and all seating is on a “rush” basis, first-come, first-serve.

The December “Family Night” Tuesday is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Local residents can bring their family down to give the sport of curling a try.

The Seniors (60 yrs and over) Mixed Cash Spiel will take place Jan. 5 to 7, 2024. Rinks may consist of any configuration, and to register they can call Bill at 306-640-9655. Local residents are encouraged to get a rink together, and come on out for a little exercise.

The Assiniboia Curling Club will be closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 1 inclusive for Christmas holidays.  There is no scheduled curling during that time. Merry Christmas to all and may 2024 be nothing but a joyous and successful year.
