The third annual Justinsane Barbie Car Races wrapped up on May 7 raising over $3,000.
This year, the funds were being collected for the Mossbank Recreation complex. The event was hosted by Ardill Hotel at its new location at Ardill Hill. The event attracted 32 cars for racing that competed in a round robin.
Dayton Krauss came out the winner of the top event and was awarded the trophy sponsored by the Ardill Hotel. The idea behind the event was to keep the youth involved in the community and to provide them with a fun recreational activity. Several other events took place over the weekend to accompany the racing, including an evening cabaret hosted by the Ardill Hotel and a pancake breakfast by the Cornerstone church.
The Justinsane Car Club is a not-for-profit club in Mossbank that is raising funds for the community in memory of Justin Kowalski who died tragically in a car accident. The car club will also be holding its second car show on July 2 in Mossbank.
This year’s Barbie Car Races had a number of sponsors to help get the event off the ground. The RM #102 helped to organize the site location.
Other sponsors included: Town of Mossbank, Ardill Hotel, Dale and Lisa’s Auto, Able II Print, Smedia, Lorrain’s Exteriors, Bourassa’s, Sky King Farms, Tolleson Sewer Service, Cornerstone Associated Gospel Church, Sullivan Land and Cattle, 121 Steakhouse and Lounge, Bear Concrete, Strom Aggregate, The Barn and Taylor Auto Repair, as well as several Regina-based businesses — Allied Printers, Superstore Prince of Wales Drive location, Alsport Sales and Service, and Ryder Insurance in Calgary.
