Maryfield Curling Club celebrated 100 years of curling with its annual bonspiel March 9 to 13. Local curlers along with family and friends from Brandon, Kola, Rocanville, Wawota, Radville, and Elkhorn made up half of the twenty teams. Several former Maryfield residents travelled home for the event - Doug Thompson of Kenosee, along with his sisters Penny and Joy, and friend Kevin Roszel of Assiniboia; Morley Bullock of Calgary, Kerry Bullock of Saskatoon and Lauren & Ted O'Brien of Regina teamed up with their mom, Ev Bullock, as fifth. Teams from Virden, Cromer, Elkhorn and Redvers rounded out the group. The twenty teams participated in the 4-event 'spiel with all teams taking home a prize. Every curler received a 100th bonspiel t-shirt.

Local teams were paired up with the brier teams for the calcutta. Thanks to Allan Munroe for auctioning the teams. Curlers and community curling enthusiasts were treated to a pig roast supper on Saturday evening. Thank you to Les Penner who donated the pig and to David Hill and his brothers, Fred and Rob, for cooking and cutting the pork. Thanks to those who donated food and helped to make the bonspiel a success.
