Austin Orsted drove in the tying run in the top of the sixth inning to give the Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Legacy Twins a 5-5 tie against the Regina Wolfpack last Wednesday in the Queen City.
The Twins (2-4-1) fell behind 3-0 in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League contest, but gradually whittled away at the deficit.
Regina led 5-4 after five innings in a game that would be called after six due to time constraints.
Nate Koszman reached base, Trenton Kauf bunted him over and Orsted proceeded to drive him in with a single.
"Then Kauf came in and threw pretty well, and got three quick outs," said head coach Tom Copeland.
But the coach felt his club should have won, stymied only by another subpar outing in the field.
"We played better defensively, but a couple of key errors cost us the win. We only allowed one or two earned runs."
Rookie pitcher Mackenzie Lamontagne threw another gem, allowing two hits over five innings and mostly keeping Regina's top players under wraps.
"Mackenzie probably would have been able to go the full game had it not been for some errors. He's starting to show some arm strength and striking guys out," Copeland said.
"He's throwing too many walks and he knows that, but they're 15-year-old kids. He's only given up five hits all year."
The Twins were slated to play their home opener against the Wolfpack last night at Lynn Prime Park, but the game was postponed due to the field being wet. No make-up date has been set yet.
