BEIJING - A hockey player with connections to southeast Saskatchewan was part of the Canadian women’s hockey team that won gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Micah Zandee-Hart, a 25-year-old defenceman, and her Team Canada teammates defeated Team USA 3-2 in the gold medal game.
Zandee-Hart hails from Saanichton, B.C., but her father, Mick Hart, resides in Kenosee Lake, and she has spent a lot of time in the community.
Many people from Kenosee Lake even posted a video online before the Olympics, wishing her the best of luck.
Zandee-Hart has extensive experience playing for Team Canada on the international stage, but this marked the first time she has played for Canada at the Olympics.
She had four assists in seven games at the Beijing Olympics, and provided solid defence for Team Canada.
Next week’s edition of the Carlyle Observer will have more on this story.
