ESTEVAN - It was a busy weekend for the Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Young Fellows U13 AA Gold Wings, as they had three games in three days in Estevan in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.
The Gold Wings lost 5-1 to the Saskatoon Comet Fury on Oct. 20 at Affinity Place. Lexie Fonstad's goal six minutes into the first period opened the scoring, but it was the only goal for the Wings in the game.
The following day, they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Saskatoon Comet Hurricanes. The 'Canes led 2-1 after the first period, with Ella Walkeden scoring for the Wings, and Saskatoon's lead was 4-1 through 40 minutes. Ayla Spagrud scored for the Wings in the third.
The final game on the weekend was a 5-1 loss to the Warman Wildcats. Spagrud had the Wings' lone goal, a power-play marker 34 seconds into the second period that left the Wings down by one. Warman pulled away with three in the third.
Baya Summers was in goal for all three games.
The Gold Wings have players from the region, and they will play games in both Estevan and Weyburn this year.
The Gold Wings (1-5) will visit the Lumsden Bethune Lynx on Oct. 28 in Lumsden.

A couple of U18 teams that play their games in Midale opened their seasons with ties.
The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Aaron Well Servicing U18 AA Goldwings played the visiting Warman Wildcats to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 21. Brooke McKinnon opened the scoring for the Wings in the second period, but Warman tied the game roughly six minutes later.
Kiera Barker made 29 saves in goal for the Wings.
They were scheduled to visit the Notre Dame Hounds on Oct. 24. (Results not available at press time).
The Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast TS&M U18 A Gold Wings played the Lumsden Lynx to a 2-2 draw on Saturday in White City. Sydney Madsen and Emma Holzer scored in the third period for the southeast entry to take a 2-1 lead, but Lumsden tied the game six seconds after Holzer's goal.
The Wings were slated to visit the Regina Rebels Black on Tuesday. (Results also not available at press time).
Their next game is Oct. 29 when they will host the Regina Rebels White in Midale at 1 p.m.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Whitecap U15 AA Goldwings, who play largely in Weyburn but have players from throughout the southeast, are 0-4 to start the season. Their most recent game was Oct. 18, when they lost 10-1 to the Regina Rebels White. Jillian Forseth scored the Wings' lone goal.
Myra Field stopped 39 shots for the Wings.
They will visit the Swift Current Wildcats on Oct. 28 and 29.

Estevan has two teams in the U15 A division.
The Estevan Bromko Construction Ltd. Bearcats 2 opened with a pair of 1-1 ties against the Weyburn Goldwings in mid-October.
They will visit the Borderland Badgers on Oct. 29 in Moosomin.
The Estevan JF Custom Bearcats 1 were slated to open the season against Weyburn on Sunday at the Oxbow Arena. (Result was not immediately available).
Their next game will be Oct. 27 when they visit the Badgers in Wawota.

Estevan also has two teams in the U13 division.
The Estevan Bearcats 1 are 0-3 to start the season. Most recently, they had a home and home with the Lumsden-Bethune Lynx, losing 8-1 on Friday in Bethune and 11-3 Saturday at the Bienfait Memorial Arena.
Paycen Babiarz had Estevan's lone goal on Friday, a tally with 2:51 to play in the second that left Estevan down 4-1.
Paityn Puryk was in goal for the game.
No information was available from Saturday's game.
They will visit the Lynx again on Oct. 29 in Lumsden.
The Bearcats 2's lone game was a 2-2 loss to the Weyburn Gold Wings on Saturday. Estevan was down 2-0 in the second, but goals by Jovi Pratt in the middle frame and Rylynn Tessier in the third knotted the contest.
Madelyn Stead was in goal for Bearcats 2.
