Due to what the SJHL has called an "influenza outbreak," games involving the La Ronge Ice Wolves and the Weyburn Red Wings are officially postponed.
This includes Friday night’s game in Weyburn between the Weyburn Red Wings and the Estevan Bruins.
SJHL commissioner Kyle McIntyre said they have postponed the games "out of an abundance of caution", to prevent the spread of the influenza virus throughout the league.
“In the SJHL bylaws, there is a provision for teams to continue to play when there are 14 players available (including goalies and affiliates) and I am confident if either team had this number of players healthy the games would have gone on.”
A make-up date for the Estevan-Weyburn game has been set for March 11.
Earlier this week, the Wings' game against the Notre Dame Hounds, slated for Nov. 22, was postponed. That contest has yet to be rescheduled.
Also, the La Ronge Ice Wolves had their three games in three nights road trip postponed. They were supposed to visit the Humboldt Broncos on Nov. 23, and the Battlefords North Stars on Nov. 24 and 25.
The game between the Ice Wolves and Broncos is now to be played on Dec 14 in Humboldt.
Meanwhile, the games between the Wolves and North Stars have been rescheduled for Jan. 4 and 24, 2023.
