LAVAL, QUE. - Estevan’s Brayden Pachal had a stand-out performance at the American Hockey League’s All-Star Challenge in Laval, Que., on Monday night.
Pachal, who is a defenceman and the captain for the Henderson Silver Knights – the AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights – played a key role in the Pacific Division winning the tournament against the league’s other three divisions.
Pachal had two goals and three assists in four games for the Pacific Division entry. He had an assist in their first game, two helpers in their second and two goals in the third, including a breakaway goal late in that contest.
The only game in which he didn’t record a point was the final game.
The AHL All-Star Challenge had a similar format to the NHL all-star gathering, with a series of mini games played at three on three. The matchups were two 10-minute halves, except for the final, which had just a 10-minute stanza.
So far this season, Pachal has two goals and 11 points in 38 games for Henderson, which is a suburb of Las Vegas. He has also been called up on multiple occasions to join the Golden Knights, and has recorded two assists in nine games.
He notched his first NHL point in a game in December.
