Estevan U15 and U13 female teams pick up wins

ESTEVAN — Estevan's two teams in the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Saskatchewan Female Hockey League's U15 A division had great results on the weekend.

The Estevan JF Custom Bearcats 1 defeated the Borderland Badgers 4-2 on Saturday at the Power Dodge Arena, and the Parkland Prairie Ice 5-1 the following day at the Bienfait Memorial Arena.

Autumn Snider scored twice, including the go-ahead goal 3:34 into the third period, and Ruby Graf and Nevaeh Duke also scored for Bearcats 1 against the Badgers.

The Ice opened the scoring in Sunday's game, but then the Bearcats took over, highlighted by four goals in the second period. Kaybree Fonstad, Billie Cowan, Jada Johnson, Snider and Graf had Estevan's goals. Graf added two assists for a three-point game. 

Taylor Short was in goal for both games.

Those were the only league games for the Bearcats 1 this month.

The Estevan Bramko Construction Ltd. U15 A Bearcats 2 doubled up the Ice 4-2 Saturday at the Power Dodge Arena.

The Ice had a 2-1 lead at one point in the second period, with Katie Sauder scoring for Estevan, but Taya Northrop scored to tie the game. Halle Lozinsky's goal 58 seconds into the third was the game winner and Northrop added some insurance with her second of the game.

Kayla Mitchell was in goal.

The Bearcats 2's next league game is Nov. 18 at the Balcarres Barracudas.

The Estevan Steel Reef U13 Bearcats 1 picked up their first league win of the season on Friday night with a 14-2 drubbing of the Milestone Flyers at the Power Dodge Arena.

Julie Berg (four goals and an assist) and Taigan Duke (two goals and three assists) led the way offensively with five points each. Hadlee Terrett (two goals and two assists) had a four-point game.

Isla Roberts also scored twice, and Paycen Babiarz, Rowan Grimes, Addison Granberg and Olivia Hockey also scored.

(The goalie's name was not available).

Their next game will be Nov. 10 when they play the Estevan Steel Reef Bearcats 2 at 7 p.m. at the Power Dodge Ice Centre. The Bearcats 1 will also visit the Flyers on Nov. 12.

The Estevan Steel Reef Bearcats 2 beat the Weyburn Gold Wings 6-2 on Saturday in Bienfait. It was a 2-2 game with 13 minutes to play in the third period, with Everleigh Blanchette and Hunter Sands scoring for Estevan. But then the Bearcats took over, with Allie Lainton, Brynley Rosengren, Hailey Sinclair and Hunter Istace scoring for Estevan.

Madelyn Stead was in goal for the Bearcats 2.

In addition to the upcoming all-Estevan showdown, the Bearcats 2 will visit the Lumsden-Bethune Lynx on Nov. 11 in Bethune.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Aaron Well Servicing U18 AA Goldwings were busy with four road games in a four-day span.

They started with a 3-2 overtime loss to the Prince Albert Foxes on Thursday. Morgan Loney scored twice, including the marker on a penalty shot in the third period that sent the game to overtime.

The Wings' next game was a 4-2 win over the Western Prairie Thunder in Kerrobert. The Wings had all the offence they needed in the first period, with four goals in a 6:07 span. Bostyn Runge scored twice, and Loney and Tyra Kmita also scored. The Thunder's two goals came in the middle frame. 

The final two games were in Swift Current against the Wildcats. The Wings lost 2-1 in overtime on Saturday, with Beau Chisholm scoring for the Wings with 63 seconds to play in the third period to force overtime. 

The Wings recovered to defeat the Wildcats 4-2 on Sunday. Brooke McKinnon, Loney and Talyn Johnston scored in the first period to give the Wings a 3-0 edge, and Johnston added her second of the game in the middle frame. The Wildcats made it interesting with two in the third.

Kiera Barker made 25 saves against Prince Albert and 33 in the first game with the Wildcats.  Ivy Grant stopped 26 shots against the Thunder and 27 in the second game with the Wildcats.

The Gold Wings will play their next league game Nov. 18 against the Northwest Sharks at 7:30 p.m. in Midale.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast TS&M U18 A Gold Wings had two ties in league play, 1-1 at the Swift Current Colts on Saturday and 4-4 with the Lumsden Lynx the following day in Midale.

Sailor Cowan had the lone goal against the Colts, giving the Wings a 1-0 lead for much of the third period until the Colts tied the game.

Brooke Kleinsasser, Sydney Madsen, Briell Farr and Delainy Knoll had the goals against the Lynx. Kleinsasser added two assists in the draw.

Kalyn McFadden was in goal for both games.

The Wildcats will host the Carlyle Wildcats on Nov. 12 at 7:15 p.m. at Crescent Point Place, and visit the Regina Rebels Black on Nov. 14.
