ESTEVAN - The Estevan TS&M U13 AA Brewers had a great start to the Western Canada Baseball Championship, being held in Estevan from Friday to Sunday.
Estevan scored four times in the first inning en route to a 10-9 victory over Alberta's Camrose Cougars Royal Friday morning. Then they edged B.C.'s North Langley Trappers 11-10 in their afternoon game to improve their record to 2-0.
The other games in the U13 division saw the Saskatchewan representative, the Maidstone Lakers, win 15-5 over Manitoba's Pembina Hills, and then Camrose beat Pembina Hills 27-2 in the final game of the day.
The U13 Brewers will play twice on Saturday: against Pembina Hills at 11:15 a.m. and versus Maidstone at 4:45 p.m.
The Estevan U15 AA Brewers went 1-1 on Friday. They opened with a 4-3 victory over B.C.'s Â鶹´«Ã½AV Island Royals in the division's opening game, and then they lost 10-6 to Alberta's Stettler Storm.
Other games on Friday saw the Storm defeat Midwest from Manitoba 9-8, and the Royals knock off the Weyburn Beavers 7-2.
Estevan will play Weyburn at 2 p.m. in the Brewers' lone game on Saturday.
All games is the U13 and the U15 divisions are being played at Mel Murray Cactus Park.
The Estevan Aero Advertising U18 AA Brewers opened with a 4-3 loss to Manitoba's Elmwood Giants. Then Estevan routed the Saskatchewan representatives, the Assiniboia Aces, 11-2 Friday night.
Also on Friday, the Aces lost 8-0 to B.C.'s Vancouver Community Mounties, and the Giants won 2-0 over Alberta's Edmonton Padres.
The Brewers will be back on the field at 2 p.m. Saturday when they play the Padres.
Games in the U18 AA division are being played at Lynn Prime Park.
