ESTEVAN - The Estevan Tier Silver Bruins had an excellent showing, representing Estevan in the 12-team Moose Jaw U11 Tier II Classic this past weekend.
The Bruins played six games in a round robin format, battling hard all weekend with only eight skaters and a goalie. Estevan finished second in their pool, and advanced to the semifinal.
They came up a bit short in the game against the undefeated Moose Jaw Blackhawks, which put them in the bronze medal game.
Estevan came out firing on all cylinders in the bronze medal game to take a 3-0 lead against the Moose Jaw Wolfpack. After that they never looked back, defeating the Wolfpack 9-4 to bring home the bronze.
Coach Dustin Hockey said they showed a lot of heart, strength and perseverance to pull off a bronze medal win in this six-game marathon. the offence never let up, with the defence and goalie shutting the door at the other end.
"We played like a team and were rewarded for it," Hockey said.
