The date has been confirmed for the Ulterra Presents The Graham DeLaet Charity Golf Tournament in Support of the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation. It will take place on Wednesday, July 27 at the Weyburn Golf Course.

"I'm looking forward to coming home in July to host this very special event in support of the Weyburn District Hospital Foundation," said Graham DeLaet. "I'm excited to see familiar faces and raise much-needed funding for the Foundation."

"We are really excited that Graham is able to come out for the Charity Tournament and that we can now announce a firm date," said Mike Hoffman, chairman of the golf tournament. "The whole point of this tournament is to raise awareness of our Foundation and the need for a new hospital here in Weyburn."

Currently Graham DeLaet is recovering from back surgery, and has not yet been able to commit to any tournaments in the Professional Golf Association Tour. Last year, DeLaet captured his PGA card during his rookie season by earning enough to rank 100th on the PGA Money List.

There is no confirmation when DeLaet will return to the PGA Tour, but it is expected he will be able to golf again by mid-March. While field information for each PGA tournament is confirmed the week before the event, it was reported that DeLaet will have a busy schedule attending tournaments during the months of April, May, June, July and August.

The Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation also announced another major sponsor for the DeLaet Charity Golf Tournament, as Weyburn Security contributed $20,000 towards sponsorship. They join Ulterra Inc., who was previously announced as title sponsor.

"We are very proud to welcome Weyburn Security as a major sponsor of our golf tournament," announced Hoffman. "Weyburn Security has been a pillar of our community for decades and this level of support clearly establishes Weyburn Security as another of our great corporate citizens."

"Weyburn Security has been supporting our community since it began, and we're extremely proud to be able to give this support towards our new hospital," said Jim Onstad, Weyburn Security spokesperson.

According to Hoffman, the golf tournament is two-thirds completed for sponsorships. All sponsors of the tournament will be guaranteed teams into the charity tournament. For the general public, Hoffman said, "Once we have the rest of our sponsorships lined up, we can start going forward and releasing any additional spots for teams."

So far plans for the DeLaet Charity Tournament include a breakfast, a junior golfing program with DeLaet and the Weyburn Golf Course professional golfer, 18 holes of tournament play with DeLaet teeing off for each team on the Par Five 10th hole; and a banquet. Details on the banquet will be released at a later date, including ticket prices and auction items that will be available at the event.

Incorporated in 2008, the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation Inc. is a registered charity operated by a volunteer board of directors. Its vision is to build a new hospital to serve the people of Weyburn and the surrounding district. More information on the golf tournament can be found on the Foundation's website at www.wdhf.ca.
