The female bantam A Power Dodge Chargers continued on their path to a provincial championship this past weekend, taking a series lead against the Prairie Storm in the Â鶹´«Ã½AV provincial final with a 3-2 win.

With the March 5 win in the two-game, total-goals series, the Chargers bring that one-goal advantage back home for a game Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Civic.

The Prairie Storm drew first blood with a goal just over five minutes into the first period. The Chargers bounced back and tied the game 1-1 before the period ended, with a goal by Taylor Colbow.

The second period was tight, but Shayla Mosley managed to break the tie with 3:26 left in the period.

Despite the girls entering the third with high hopes, the Prairie Storm ruined the Chargers' lead just 37 seconds into the period. It was back and forth for the rest of the final frame, until Brooklyn Dukart scored with just four minutes left to reclaim the lead 3-2.

For the remainder, the Chargers were able to hang on. If they win this series on the weekend, the girls will play the North champion for the provincial title. Game two is at the Civic Saturday at 7 p.m.

In league playoffs the Chargers faced the Weyburn Angels in a two-game, total-goals series, which the girls cleaned up, allowing just one goal in the series.

They won the first game 3-1, with two goals by Dukart and one by Madison Colbow. Tamara Irwin made 20 saves in goal.

Game two saw the Chargers better the Angels 2-0, giving Brianna Cote the shutout, stopping all 16 shots. Goals were scored by Dukart and Taylor Colbow.

The Chargers have moved on to the quarter-final round. Their opponent is yet to be determined.
