SASKATOON - For the second straight year, a Carnduff baseball product has been named the best player in Saskatchewan's top minor baseball league.
Carter Beck with the Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast U18 AAA Twins was named the MVP of the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League's U18 AAA division. He also shared the top hitter award with Cam Marshak from the East Central Red Sox.
Beck has now won both awards the past two seasons.
In 2023, Beck had a .426 batting average. Included in his 49 hits were seven doubles, five triples and six home runs. He also had 37 runs, 50 runs batted in and 31 stolen bases.
And he pitched for the Twins, finishing with a 1-2 record with a 3.89 earned-run average and 34 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched. He also had three saves.
His performance helped the Twins to the best record in the league in 2023 at 25-5. The Twins play most of their home games out of Estevan.
The awards announcement was made during the opening ceremonies for the U18 AAA provincials in Saskatoon.
Beck, who graduated from the Carnduff Education Complex in June, has committed to play baseball for the University of Mary for next season.
