The Carlyle Golf Club felt it was a good time to bring you up to date on how our year is going.
Our highlights are as follows:
COVID-19 has been kind to the course for both 2020 and 2021. Membership revenue is way up as are daily green fees, cart rentals and the like. We have hosted a number of smaller tournaments this year with more scheduled for September.
Groundskeepers Steve Polsom, Kal Harper and their crew have kept the course in excellent shape and we have some of the best greens and tee off boxes in southeastern Saskatchewan. Clubhouse manager Terri Field and her friendly staff have done a great job in the clubhouse.
Attendance at our men’s nights Mondays and our Ladies’ nights Tuesdays has been great. Since the fall of 2020, the golf club has been spending money on course improvements. New carpeting and blinds have been added to the clubhouse together with a paint job. This summer, we also completed major renovations to our clubhouse deck, including new patio furniture.
A good used fringe mower was purchased this spring and in July our main Kubota tractor was upgraded.
This past week, a motion was made to proceed with the drilling of a new water well. The club assures you that we are not out of water but want a spare well drilled as a backup. All of these expenditures are being paid for from profits generated by the golf course in 2020 and 2021.
Our savings funds have not been depleted by even one penny. With the recent rains and cooler weather, the course is in great shape and hopefully our season extends well into October. Thank you to all of our sponsors, private donators and the volunteers whose work is greatly appreciated but goes unnoticed. And finally, a reminder to all that our season-ending members’ tournament takes place on Sept. 19. Two-person best ball, please enter at the clubhouse.
