Bruins win season opener

The Estevan Bruins skated into Melville and downed the Millionaires 6-4 in the SJHL season opener last night.


The Estevan Bruins skated into Melville and downed the Millionaires 6-4 in the SJHL season opener last night.

The Bruins received goals from six different players, including three power play tallies and a short-handed marker by Lucas Stubel in the opening period. Accounting for the rest of the Bruins offence were Richard Hubscher, Ryan Anderson, Tyler Spencer, Dylan Smith and Ty Ariss.

Tyson Newell had a pair of goals for Melville, while Gordic Tham and Craig Karius added the others.

Newly acquired goaltender, Joel Danyluk turned aside 30 shots to get the win in goal for Estevan, in what turned out to a penalty filled affair.

The Bruins and Millionaires will do battle again tomorrow night in Estevan as the second half of a home and home series. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
