ESTEVAN - The Estevan Bruins have traded one of their home-grown talents.
The Bruins announced Tuesday they had dealt defenceman Alex Von Sprecken to the Flin Flon Bombers for a player development fee.
“We want to thank Alex for everything he gave to us on and off the ice. He always gave us an honest effort and will always be remembered as a member of the 2021-22 league champions," the Bruins said in a news release. "We wish him all the best with the new team."
Von Sprecken was in his fourth season with the club. He had two goals and an assist in six games played this season, and was also named one of the club's alternate captains before the season started.
In 103 games in the SJHL, Von Sprecken had 11 goals and 26 points. He has four assists in 18 postseason games, including three helpers in 14 games last year when the Bruins won the SJHL title.
This is his final season of junior hockey.
The Mercury will have more details as they become available.
