The Estevan Bruins completed a trade on Friday, sending 20-year-old goalie Shea Cooper to the Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
Cooper, a native of Â鶹´«Ã½AV River, Ont., was the team's backup last season and had battled Derek Tendler for the No. 1 job in training camp before suffering a foot laceration that has kept him out of the first four games of the season.
"I wanted to make sure he got to Portage. It's a good situation for him," Cassidy said. "Shea gets a new start. I think he'll be just fine.
"A lot of it rests with the fact that we do have a young team and going forward, Derek's obviously a year younger. He has the kind of disposition we're looking for to work with our young defencemen and (rookie goalie) Steven Glass."
