ESTEVAN - A second member of the Estevan Bruins has committed to attend and play hockey for the University of Regina Cougars next season.
Forward Eric Pearce, who is in his final season of junior eligibility, finished with 48 points (20 goals, 28 assists) in 40 games. Pearce finished fifth in team scoring for the Bruins and was a key player for the penalty kill unit that finished with a 90.2 per cent success rate.
“Eric averaged over a point a game for us this season. Eric contributed for us offensively but played a key role for us defensively," said Bruins head coach and general manager Jason Tatarnic.
"Eric takes all of our important draws offensively and defensively. Eric will be a great two-way player at the university level. He is very mature person that led our team to a first-place finish in the regular season."
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward from Regina played for the Prince Albert Raiders and the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League before joining the Bruins this season. Pearce was part of the Prince Albert Raiders Western League championship in 2018-19.
Last week the Bruins announced that captain Eric Houk had committed to play for the Cougars next season.
