WHITEWOOD - The Brent Gedak rink, competing out of the Estevan Curling Club, won one of four games at the SaskTel Tankard provincial men’s curling championships in Whitewood.
Their bid for a spot in the playoffs ended with an 11-4 loss to Colton Flasch in the C event of the triple knockout elimination tournament.
Gedak opened with an 8-3, eight-end loss to the Rylan Kleiter rink. Kleiter scored three in the seventh to take over a game that was 4-2 through six ends.
He then lost 9-7 to Jason Jacobson. Gedak scored three times in the fifth end to lead 5-3, but Jacobson responded with three of his own in the sixth.
The game was tied 7-7 after eight ends, but Jacobson scored one in the ninth and stole one in the 10th.
Gedak picked up his lone win of the Tankard with an 8-1 victory in five ends over Michael Carss. Gedak stole three in each of the second and fifth ends, leading to Carss conceding the match.
The final game was the loss to Flasch. Flasch stole four in the second end to lead 6-0. Gedak’s points came when he scored twice in each of the third and fifth ends.
Other members of the Gedak rink are lead Curtis Horwarth, second Derek Owens and third Jason Ackerman.
The Tankard will wrap up Sunday. Twelve teams were entered.
