Between the sheets at the Carlyle Curling Club

Another curling season has come and gone. The season got off to a slower start than expected as the wet fall resulted in the ice area being flooded. However, our new caretaker, Warren Neuman, took it all in stride.

Another curling season has come and gone. The season got off to a slower start than expected as the wet fall resulted in the ice area being flooded. However, our new caretaker, Warren Neuman, took it all in stride. Before the ice was put in, a crew of volunteers put in new carpet on the ice surface. The first event of the season was the junior men playdowns and due to a great group of volunteers the event was very successful. We were very excited to have Dan Gentes run the kitchen this year and to provide this service to our curlers. During the week, Warren was kept busy with a Monday and Thursday's mixed league, a senior league, Carlyle Elementary Students, Gordon F. Kell Students and the Cadets. The club held another successful boxing day spiel. The events of the season included the Carlyle Motor Products Cash Spiel, Farmers and Friends, Men's, Oilmen's, Mixed, 49er's bonspiels, and mixed regions. The club ended the season with a pot luck supper. The supper was well attended and Diane Wilson won the draw for $500. Those who attended the supper got to see the fantastic new paint job on the walls of the ice surface. Thanks to the hard work of Warren Neuman, members enjoyed a great season of curling!
