Beavers win two more

The Weyburn Beavers continued their push for a Western Major Baseball League playoff birth with a pair of wins over divisional opponents.Weyburn shelled the Melville Millionaires 10-2 on July 12 at Tom Laing Field.

Melville Millionaire's short stop, Joshua Federico could not reach the throw from home plate which advanced Weyburn Beavers outfielder, Kilby Perdomo. The Beavers are showing a solid run at the playoffs as they handily defeated the Millionaires 10-2 on Sunday afternoon at Tom Laing Park.

The Weyburn Beavers continued their push for a Western Major Baseball League playoff birth with a pair of wins over divisional opponents.Weyburn shelled the Melville Millionaires 10-2 on July 12 at Tom Laing Field. Weyburn scored four times in the fifth inning to break open a 3-1 game, and they cruised to their first win of the season against Melville. Kilby Perdomo led the way for Weyburn offensively, with three hits and three runs batted in. Kyle Rown added two runs batted in.Alex Gale allowed two runs, one of them unearned, in six innings of work.Weyburn defeated the Yorkton Cardinals 4-2 in Yorkton on July 12 in what was arguably the Beavers' biggest win of the season. Weyburn is chasing Yorkton for the final playoff birth in the East Division. The Beavers scored three times in the fourth inning, thanks to run-scoring singles by Grant Malm, Kyle Raskin and Kenneth Rowan. Erik Scott and Dillon Yeaman each had three hits for the Beavers.Jesse Elam allowed only one run in five innings to pick up his second win of the season. Weyburn hosted the Regina Red Sox on July 15. (Results not available at press time). Entering the game against Regina, the Beavers were 12-20. They are still fourth in the Eastern Division, but they are only half a game behind Yorkton for the division's third and final playoff birth. The Beavers have nine games remaining.Weyburn will host Regina on July 16, and they will travel to Saskatoon on July 17 and 18. Then they have three games against the Cardinals. Weyburn will visit Yorkton on July 19, and the Beavers will host the Cardinals on July 21 and 22.
