Rain did what the most successful franchise in the Western Major Baseball League couldn't do: stop the Weyburn Beavers.Weyburn swept two home games against the three-time defending league champion Okotoks Dawgs. Weyburn won Game 1 6-4 on June 6, and Game 2 5-1 on the 7th.The Beavers scored three times in each of the third and fourth innings in the 6-4 win against Okotoks. Erik Scott had two hits, two runs scored and a run batted in to pace the Beavers' offence. Starter Brady Adamek allowed one run in five innings to get his second win of the season. Jesse Elam pitched three shutout innings in relief to get the save. The Beavers scored four times in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead on June 7, and cruised to the 5-1 victory. Derek Wallace hit a run-scoring triple in the first, and knocked in two more runs with a single in the second. Dillon Yeaman picked up the win with one run against in five innings. Local product Brad Weisgerber pitched three shutout innings in relief. Weyburn didn't get the chance to extend their two-game winning streak to three games, as Weyburn's home game on June 8 against the Swift Current Indians was rained out. The game will be made up on July 2 as part of a double-header.The Beavers lost their two games previous to the Okotoks contest: 11-7 to the Regina Red Sox on June 5 and 8-1 to the Melville Millionaires on June 4. Weyburn trailed 6-0 after two innings in both games. The Beavers hosted the Regina Red Sox on June 10. (Results were not available at press time). Entering the game, Weyburn's record was 3-3.Weyburn has six games in the next seven days. They host the Lethbridge Bulls twice: at 7 p.m. on June 12 and at 2 p.m. on June 13. They also host the Melville Millionaires at 7 p.m. on June 16. The Beavers will visit the Yorkton Yellow Jackets on June 11, the Indians on June 15, and the Red Sox on the 17th.
