Beavers knocked out of playoffs, lose 3-1 to Regina

The Beavers have completed their playoff run, after losing to Regina in the east semi-finals.

During their home game on Saturday, the Beavers fell 9-4. Players from the team are now heading home, after losing to Regina 3-1 in the best-of-five east division semi finals. During the semi-finals for both the east and west divisions, the Beavers were the only losing team to make it to four games.

The Beavers have completed their playoff run, after losing to Regina in the east semi-finals. They were the only losing team from both the east and west division from the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) to force their best-of-five playoffs to four games.In Regina on Friday, the Beavers lost 8-5. Regina had an early lead by the third inning, scoring a total of seven runs. The Beavers scored once in the fifth inning, and three times in the sixth inning to get on the board. Both teams exchanged one run in the eighth inning.Pitching for Weyburn was Alex Gale, Jeremy Zink and Braden Rudy. It had been off Gale that the Red Sox had scored their first seven runs.Hosting the Red Sox at home on Saturday, the Beavers lost 9-4. Regina had taken a three-run lead in the first inning, then captured one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning. The Beavers were able to tighten the score by taking three runs in the seventh and once in the eighth.Then in the ninth inning, Regina secured three runs to claim the victory. On the mound for Weyburn was Jesse Elam and Micky Bullard.A comeback by the Beavers in Regina on Sunday kept them alive in the playoffs, after winning 9-7 against the Red Sox. The game started off 3-2 in Reginas favour after two innings, with the Beavers tying the score in the fifth.Then in the sixth inning, Weyburn scored twice while the Red Sox brought in four runs. Returning to the mound at the top of the seventh, the Beavers were able to bring in four of their own runs. Then they kept the Red Sox silent to take the victory.Starting on the mound was Phil Curtis, who was then relieved by Morgan Cirbo.The Beavers returned home for the fourth game of the playoffs, and were conquered 18-8 by the Red Sox. Regina came out scoring big in the first three innings and took a 12-2 lead, forcing off the mound both Julien Soucy and Jeremy Zink.Another five runs were captured by the Red Sox in the fifth inning, and were hit off reliever Brad Weisgerber. The Beavers were able to score three runs in the sixth inning, but it was not enough to catch up to Regina, especially with the Red Sox taking another two in the eighth. In the last inning, the Beavers scored three runs to end their season.The other pitchers for the Beavers in this game were Eric Evans and Alex Gale.Facing off in the east division finals are Regina and Moose Jaw, with Okotoks and Swift Current facing each other in the west division finals.
