The Estevan Apex Bruins lost both of their road games on the weekend, falling to fifth place in the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

The midget AA club lost 8-6 to the Lumsden/Bethune Lions on Saturday, then were defeated 5-2 in Weyburn on Sunday.

With two games left in the regular season, the Bruins (17-11-6) are one point behind the Notre Dame Hounds and Lumsden. They are two points ahead of the Regina Wild.

On Sunday, the Bruins and Wings were tied 2-2 after 20 minutes, but Weyburn scored three unanswered goals to pick up the two points.

Kaelum Bieber opened the scoring at 5:13, but Weyburn's Tucker Neuberger tied it 89 seconds later.
Weyburn's Cole Sjostrand and Estevan's Zach Paxman traded goals in the last two minutes of the period.

Braden Mellon and Neuberger each scored for the Wings in the second, and Kolton Cleasby gave them a three-goal cushion late in the third.

On Saturday, the Bruins again held their own early, but a four-goal third period for Lumsden put the game away.

Estevan's Brad Tomiski and Lumsden's Tyson Scott each scored in the first period. Ryan Frehlick, who ended up with a hat trick, scored twice for the Bruins in the second period while Bieber had their other goal in the frame. Luke Cole, Brayden Schmidt and Scott scored for Lumsden in the period.

In the third, the Lions got goals from Carson Cayr, Cole, Scott and Matthew McKinnon. Frehlick and Dylan Herzberg scored for Estevan in the third.

The Bruins wrap up their regular season this weekend. They visit the Regina Capitals on Friday, then host the Prairie Storm on Saturday. Game time is 8:15 p.m. at Spectra Place.
