Assiniboia Composite High School student Logan Fettes is off to the national youth track and field championship in Brandon on August 11-13.
Fettes, who will be entering Grade 12 in the fall, broke the record in triple jump at the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Central district senior boys championship in Moose Jaw this spring. He bested his own previous jumps and his competitors with a triple jump height of 13.15 m. He also came in first in high jump, jumping a height of 1.75 m.
Fettes recently attended the Legion track and field camp in Saskatoon. His performance there qualified him to compete in the nationals in Brandon next month.
Since he will be over the age requirement next year, this year will be his last opportunity to attend the Legion’s national championship. Fettes trains all year to improve his track and field performance. He also participates in other sports like basketball.
