Following a reported incident on Sept. 1, an adult male faces several charges including a charge of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and failing to comply with a probation order. The male is currently being sought by police.

With school back in session, the Weyburn Police Service showed an increased presence as officers focused on pedestrian and traffic safety in our school and recreational areas. Of the 14 charges laid under the Traffic Safety Act during the week, two of them related to using a cell phone while driving, and seven were related to speed. Several warnings were also given out during the week.

On Monday morning, a resident reported his truck had been struck and damaged sometime during the night while parked on the street in front of his home located on Prairie Avenue.

During patrol, officers noticed two individuals walking along the highway near Weyburn.  While speaking to the individuals the officers discovered that one of them had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. The warrant was executed and the individual was released with an upcoming court date.

A traffic stop conducted Friday evening resulted in an adult male being charged with impaired driving. The male was released with an upcoming court date.

Weyburn police received a complaint of an individual falling victim to an online/phone scam resulting in a loss of a significant amount of money. The scam is fairly popular and involves the scammer advising the victim they won a lottery but requires them to pay the taxes or some type of fee in order for their winnings to be released to them. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.

Officers also responded to a variety of other calls involving domestic disputes, family relations, mental health, alarms, and general wellbeing checks.
